Our Story

In 2009, Jason Brittain joined forces with Johnny Day to form B&K Grading and Paving in New Ellenton, SC, each bringing exceptional organizational skills and a dynamic work ethic fostered during their years of owning and managing separate construction businesses in the Central Savannah River Area.

Their prior work experience over nearly 20 years ranged from countless residential driveways and parking lot seal-coat jobs to acting as the site-work general contractor on several Lowe's Home Improvement Centers, Wal-Mart Super Centers, and new military installations at Fort Jackson, SC, and Fort Bragg, NC.

The company acquired Godard and McGahee Enterprises in 2011 to add waste disposal to its services, making it one of the few full-service, turn-key site development firms in the region.

Johnny Day

Manager

Johnny Day began his construction career as a teenager working with a landscape/small grading contractor. In 1996, he began working for himself in the pavement maintenance business, performing asphalt seal-coating and patching work in the Aiken area. Later, he became a partner in Carolina Construction, performing larger, more complex paving jobs. In 2009, he partnered with Jason Brittain to form B&K Grading and Paving, where Day serves as the principal field manager for all of B&K's work. He has 17 years' experience in the asphalt paving business, with work ranging from residential driveways to paving at Georgia Power's Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Ga.
